Pretty much describes a large portion of people I’ve been friends with or still am.
Depression is horrible. Everyone seems to self-diagnose themselves with depression because they feel sad.
Depression doesn’t work like that, and it isn’t “just feeling sad”. If you feel sad or not in the mood for some activities for a few days out of a month, that’s not depression, that’s normal mood changes. If you feel okay for a couple days out of the month and the rest are terrible enough to keep you in bed all day and prevent you from doing everyday things (like eating, going to work, or anything you used to enjoy), then you have a problem.
It’s not romantic, it’s not fun, it’s not special, it’s a terrible disease that I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy.
It’s because of these false self-diagnoses that nobody takes the people with a real problem seriously. People with depression rarely mention their depression—they don’t tell it to the world. I normally subconsciously cover up the evidence with rage. I only bring this up myself because I’m tired of the self-piteous and condescending self-diagnosed dimwits.

For a fandom that preaches its “love and tolerance” we sure do have a tendency to become the haters.
That “love and tolerance” thing was bullshit from the start. Nobody wanted to follow it, it was just a mantra to chant at people whom you didn’t agree with.
I prefer the term “Fuck off and mind your own business” and “Unless it affects you or your own, Shut. The fuck. Up.” The latter courtesy of Penn Jillette.
